Singapore, Malaysian Navies Exercise in Malacca Strait

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) conducted a bilateral exercise in the Malacca Strait from 10 to 19 December. The exercise, code-named Malapura, was hosted by the RMN. The RSN deployed a frigate, a missile corvette and a patrol vessel for the exercise, while the RMN took part with a frigate, a corvette and an offshore patrol vessel. About 400 personnel from both navies participated in the exercise.RSN Fleet Commander, Rear-Admiral Ng Chee Peng, and RMN Fleet Operations Commander, Vice-Admiral Dato' Ahmad Kamarulzaman bin Ahmad Badaruddin, officiated at the exercise closing ceremony on 19 December.The two navies have been taking part in Ex Malapura since 1984. These exercises have strengthened professional ties and enhanced mutual understanding between both navies.
