Indonesian navy chief calls on Defence Minister

January 22, 2009,Singapore -- The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral (ADM) Tedjo Edhy Purdijanto, called on Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean at the Ministry of Defence on 22 Jan.
ADM Tedjo, who is here on a three-day introductory visit, also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek, as well as Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Chew Men Leong.
He will also be visiting Changi Naval Base before leaving Singapore on 23 Jan.
The visit underscores the strong defence relations between Singapore and Indonesia and reflects the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Singapore Navy and the Indonesian Navy.
Personnel from both navies interact regularly through exercises, visits and courses, fostering camaraderie and strengthening mutual understanding. (Ashok Palaniappan/mindef.gov.sg)
