LTTE underground fuel storage found - Dharmapuram
January 19, 2009, Troops of 58 Division while conducting further consolidating operations in Dharmapuram area, Mullaittivu, have found 300 fuel barrels which had been buried by the LTTE this morning, 19 January.
According to the available sources, 300 barrels, containing 225 letters of Diesel in each, had been buried in a coconut grove in the Dharmapuram area. The barrels had been properly sealed and covered from polythin before they were buried. The barrels were buried in a land nearly 10 acres, sources added.
Further, in order to delay the advance of the ground troops into the oil storage complex, LTTE have placed booby-traps and explosive devices around the storage premises.
The underground fuel storage found this morning clearly shows that LTTE have looted the fuel bowsers sent by the government as humanitarian aid for the thousands of innocent civilians trapped by the LTTE. (defence.lk)
