Pakistan, Poland keen to promote defence cooperation
January 21, 2009,Islamabad -- A Polish defence delegation, led by the Chief of General Staff Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland, General Franciszek Gagor, called on Federal Minister for Defence, Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar here on Wednesday. They discussed the security situation of the region, bilateral defence cooperation, global war on terror and the strains in Pak‑India relations in the wake of Mumbai attacks.
Both sides agreed to enhance and widen bilateral cooperation as there existed a lot of potential and opportunities which needed to be capitalized upon for the mutual benefits of the two countries.
The meeting underlined the need to increase cooperation in the areas of training and defence production. Secretary Defence, Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Athar Ali also attended the meeting. (app.com.pk)
