Two US soldiers killed in Iraq
BAGHDAD, Dec 31 (KUNA) -- Two US soldiers were killed Wednesday in two separate incidents in Iraq.
A soldier died from wounds sustained during a mortar attack in Baghdad December 31, said an Multi National Force (MNF) statement, adding another soldier died in Balad town, Iraq, from injuries sustained during combat operations, December 30.
The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin and released by the US Department of Defense.
The Death toll of US soldiers killed in Iraq since 2003 increased to 4221, with 14 of them killed this month alone.
However, the number of US casualties this December was the lowest for the MNF since 2003.Also the number of US deaths in 2008 is the lowest with about 312 killed compared to previous years.Including the number of British and other forces' casualties, the MNF has lost 4535 since the war on Iraq.(ahh.gta) @KUNA
